Doula Natalie
Doula Natalie is professionally trained as a Cardiology Technologist. Although she is medically trained, she felt it did not prepare her in the ways she envisioned for her birth worker journey. The desire to become a Doula transpired 13 years ago after a traumatic first birth that lasted 19 hours, resulting in a forceps-assisted delivery. However, through research and education, Natalie felt more empowered and in control during her second pregnancy, which led to a more desirable birthing experience. Doula Natalie had two successful home births between the years 2020 and 2022! She has grown to believe in this work and the power of an empowering birth journey.
During her research, she learned about the disproportionate rates at which black and brown mamas experience trauma, emergencies, and death during pregnancy and postpartum. She knew her life purpose within the community and sought certifications as a Birth Doula, Lactation Consultant, and PAIL Advocate. Since then, she's been able to lend support to mostly first-time mamas to empower them to make informed decisions and lessen their risks of poor birthing outcomes.
